Charging an EV at home: subsidies, the next call and what to check now

According to the Lithuanian Energy Agency, more than 20,000 private charging points have been installed with state support. How to prepare so your charger is safe and doesn't overload your supply.

Subsidy results so far

As of 17 August 2026 the Lithuanian Energy Agency (LEA) had received 18,367 applications; 20,814 private charging points were installed and EUR 21.42 million paid out. Previous calls funded charging points of up to 22 kW for individuals, with an implementation deadline no later than 30 April 2026.

Will there be a new call?

There is no open call right now. Market participants report that LEA plans a new call in Q4 2026 (around EUR 1 million). Official conditions will only be known once it is published, so follow the LEA website.

What to check now

Charger power depends on your home's supply capacity. Before buying a charger, assess the supply, the condition of the panel, the cable route to the mounting point and the protection devices. Dynamic load management shares power between the house and the car so the supply isn't overloaded.

EV charging point installation is also governed by Lithuania's General Rules for Electrical Installations — the work must be done by qualified professionals.
